Term 3 Reflection

                           Term 3 Reflection
Term 3 at Tamaki Intermediate was awesome. We started the term with tedious testing. I sure was not looking forward to that.
The Junior Warriors came to visit us in week five. I was kind of surprised that there was even another Warriors team. We got to spend some time outside on the field with them. They taught us some Rugby League skills.
Shortly after that we had our own Olympics coming up. Class rooms chose to support countries of their choice and represent them. These groups would be competing for Gold, Bronze and Silver medals at our own school Olympics.
This term, every interval and lunch time Mr Utunga trained the boys and girls for Rugby, Rugby League, Basketball and Badminton to make sure we made it to the finals.
For a long period of time we had been raising money for the awesome trip to Windy Wellington. Each class room came up with their own idea of making money. We also held a Garage Sale, Car Wash and Sausage sizzle. Once we raised enough money, we took off on a plane and said good bye to Auckland and hello to Wellington from the 10th of September to the 14th of September.
The Wiggles came to visit our school. But they weren’t alone they also brought along with them their new trainees because the original wiggles were retiring and I think the show they performed to us was their last, so I guess we were lucky.
Term 3 was really a fun term and I am looking forward to Term 4.

Train Ride back to the City of Lights

Train ride back to the City of Lights
It came to the time when Tamaki Intermediate had to leave beautiful Wellington and head home for Auckland. Everyone was set and ready to go as they couldn’t wait to see their families who they hadn’t seen in days. Luckily for us the Wellington Train Station was just across the road from our accommodation. So it was only seconds away but the strong winds made walking across to the train station a challenge.
People were squeezing themselves through other people, rushing their bags on board the train and running towards the train compartments.
When we got on board the train, I didn’t realise how long it was going to take to get to Auckland. I knew that this train ride was going to be very appealing for me because I had never been on a train that travels long distances. Inside the train it was very flash. The chairs were comfortable and had adjustable head rests.
Thankfully the teachers had prepared a big lunch for each student for the long journey. I enjoyed the chocolate milk that was in the lunch pack.
The view from the train was amazing. There were Pohutukawa trees in Palmeston North, and beautiful lakes and rivers as we were passing through Taumaranui.
Right at the back of the train there was a special place that you could go to and smell the fresh air even though it wasn’t that fresh all the time. It was fun when we would pass on a bridge. It felt as if you were going to fall off the train.
Miss Waetford had given everyone a booklet with lots of activities to do which had to be completed before we got to Auckland. We had just passed through Hamilton when we had to give the booklets back. That was when people were rushing to finish the activities in the booklets.
We arrived in Auckland at 6:30 pm. I was so happy to see lights flashing from the city. That’s when I knew I was finally home.

My moment of success

Everyone's screaming, yelling and chanting for their country's team to win all their races. I knew that I would be next for the tennis and spoon race and that everyone would be relying on me to win a gold medal for New Zealand.

As I walk up to the starting line I could hear people roaring louder than dinosaurs and that there was a lot of pressure on me so I definitely had to win this race. ON YOUR MARKS GET SET GO!!!! and off we were I was sliding my shoes across the ground to make sure that the ball was steady and that it wouldn't drop.

I was just inches away from crossing the finish line until I dropped the ball and had to go back. I didn't come first that was  okay because I had another chance to redo the race so I could go for silver or bronze.

I had a sick feeling that I was going to lose and not get any medal at all but in the end I won bronze even though it wasn't real bronze it was just plastic I was very happy and proud of myself.

Over all the winners were America in first place New Zealand in second and Jamaica in third. Everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed themselves.

Learning presentations

Today Miss G came into our class room to teach us how to make a Google presentation. I
learned that we could use this to show other people around the world how to make things.
And I could go on and make POP QUIZ'S.

SAMOA

The slaps are as loud as claps
Lava lavas flow with the wind
Everybody’s got their drums and
giving signs of thumbs

Everybody’s dancing kind of like
Prancing
Pork buns are hot and
Steaming

People a screaming
And gleaming
We can be loud like dragons
When it comes to the
Screaming
Peas are what we wear
For churches or the fair
